3D Lens Sheet — PiP Lens

How does the PiP Lens work, and where is it used?

The PiP Lens is a special 3D lens structure based on a Picture-in-Picture concept, designed so that a 2D region and a 3D region can be used at the same time. This makes it well suited to mobile environments like smartphones — where both 2D resolution and 3D matter — and to productivity displays that combine 2D UI and document work with 3D content.

It is used most notably in MOPIC's HoloGlass product.

Note

Unlike the Switchable 3D approach, which turns the whole screen 2D or 3D, the PiP Lens lets a 2D region and a 3D region coexist within a single screen.
