  • Industry: Cultural Exhibition / Museum / Cultural Heritage Exhibition
  • Solution: 26.5-inch glasses-free 3D display and set-top box for content playback

Visualization of architectural structure and restoration process with glasses-free 3D content
    - Visitors can experience stereoscopic exhibition content without separate equipment
    - Improved digital presentation and immersion in cultural heritage exhibitions

1. Background and Challenge

In architectural heritage exhibitions, it is important to effectively deliver the structure and spatial feel of a building. However, exhibitions based on conventional flat (2D) displays had limitations in fully expressing the depth and three-dimensional form of architectural structures. Because of this, there has been growing interest in new exhibition technology that can create a more immersive digital exhibition experience in museum environments.

2. MOPIC’s Solution

Casa Batlló introduced MOPIC’s glasses-free 3D display and exhibition content playback system in key areas of the exhibition space.

3D Display Optimized for Exhibition Environment

MOPIC supplied a 26.5-inch glasses-free 3D display considering the exhibition path and the average viewing distance of visitors.
  • Optimized stereoscopic effect based on viewing distance for the exhibition environment
  • 3D visualization with depth that naturally shows architectural structure
  • Customized display design for exhibitions with a square ratio and ultra-slim bezel

MOPIC also provided a dedicated set-top box for stable playback and operation of the exhibition content.

Support for 3D Conversion of Exhibition Content

MOPIC supported the conversion of the museum’s existing 2D image and video materials into 3D content for playback on the display. Through this, a 3D exhibition content environment was created where various information such as architectural structure and restoration process could be presented in stereoscopic form.

3. Results and Value

Stereoscopic Expression of Cultural Heritage Exhibition

Visitors were able to understand architectural structures and detailed elements more intuitively through a stereoscopic effect that felt like looking into a real architectural space.

More Immersive Exhibition Experience

Because natural 3D viewing was possible without special glasses, visitors could experience the exhibition content in a more comfortable environment.

Strengthened Digital Exhibition Capability

By expanding existing flat content into 3D, the museum was able to improve its digital exhibition presentation and content utilization.

Customer Interview

The most important thing when presenting architectural heritage through an exhibition is how well the structure and depth of the space are expressed. Through MOPIC’s glasses-free 3D display, visitors were able to experience the feeling of looking into a real architectural space, and the delivery of the exhibition content improved greatly.
