HoloGlass, an attachable XR spatial display developed by glasses-free 3D technology company MOPIC, has won the KES 2026 Innovation Award in the XR & Spatial Computing category.
HoloGlass is designed to attach directly to a smartphone screen and combines a 0.3 mm-thick 3D optical lens with 9H tempered glass. It functions as a conventional screen protector during normal use, while launching the dedicated app transforms the smartphone display into an immersive spatial experience without requiring glasses or a headset.
One of HoloGlass’s key advantages is that users can continue using their existing smartphones and content. Through the dedicated app’s AI-powered real-time 2D-to-3D conversion, users can experience familiar 2D content—including YouTube videos, social media, games, photos, and videos—in 3D without any additional content production. MOPIC has also completed development of a 3D video calling feature between HoloGlass users, which is planned for future release.
HoloGlass is more than a standalone hardware product. It is a mobile spatial computing platform that integrates a 3D optical film, a dedicated app, and an SDK. MOPIC provides the SDK so that third-party applications and services can incorporate glasses-free 3D functionality, while working with content and service providers to expand the mobile spatial computing ecosystem. Because its core features are software-driven, AI conversion performance and new capabilities can continue to evolve through app updates without requiring users to replace the film.
MOPIC has been researching glasses-free 3D technology for mobile devices since 2012. Building on more than a decade of development, the company has optimized its technology so that eye tracking and real-time 3D rendering can run directly on smartphone hardware without requiring a separate computing device. MOPIC also holds 21 registered patents related to glasses-free 3D technology in Korea, the United States, and China, and has demonstrated its mass-production and global distribution capabilities by supplying more than 100,000 units annually to a major Japanese telecommunications company.
“HoloGlass transforms the smartphone people already own into a spatial display, rather than requiring them to purchase an entirely new dedicated device,” said Changbong Shin, CEO of MOPIC. “With this recognition, we aim to further expand the mobile XR ecosystem and make glasses-free 3D and spatial computing more accessible in everyday life.”
MOPIC will participate in KES 2026, taking place at COEX in Seoul from October 13 to 16, where it will showcase HoloGlass alongside its 32-inch Light Field 3D Display. Visitors will be able to experience MOPIC’s glasses-free 3D technology across a range of devices, from smartphones to large-format displays, at Booth B246.
About MOPIC
MOPIC is an XR display company founded in 2015 based on glasses-free 3D technology originating from Samsung Electronics. The company has been researching glasses-free 3D technology for mobile devices since 2012 and develops its core technologies in-house, including optical design, eye tracking, and real-time 3D rendering.
MOPIC holds 21 related registered patents in Korea, the United States, and China and has received multiple industry awards, including a CES Innovation Award 2019 and the Grand Prize at NEXT RISE AWARD. Through HoloGlass for smartphones, glasses-free 3D displays in a range of sizes, and software and SDK solutions, MOPIC continues to expand the applications of spatial computing technology.
