Case of Glasses-Free 3D Display for Digital Microscope Observation
Overview
- Customer: Solectrix (Germany)
- Industry: Industrial Analysis / Digital Microscope / Precision Image Analysis
- Solution: 15.6-inch customized glasses-free 3D display and Native 3D SDK
- Key Result:
- Real-time glasses-free 3D display of binocular microscope images
- Monitor-based observation instead of eyepieces, reducing user fatigue during long use
- Improved work efficiency and analysis accuracy in digital microscope environments
1. Background and Challenge
Conventional binocular microscopes require users to observe through eyepieces for long periods, which can cause fatigue. Because of this, research and industrial analysis environments are increasingly adopting monitor-based digital microscope systems. However, most existing 3D displays require 3D glasses, making them less suitable for long working sessions.
2. MOPIC’s Solution
Solectrix applied MOPIC’s glasses-free 3D display and 3D SDK to its digital microscope viewer system. This enabled a digital microscope environment where images from binocular microscope cameras can be displayed in real-time glasses-free 3D on a monitor.
3D Display Optimized for Microscope Observation
MOPIC developed a customized 15.6-inch glasses-free 3D display considering laboratory environments and microscope viewing distance.
- 3D optical design based on microscope observation distance
- High-resolution 3D output suitable for microstructure analysis
- Panel supporting Adobe RGB 100% color reproduction for accurate color representation
System Integration Using Native 3D SDK
Using MOPIC’s Native 3D SDK, 3D functionality was added without changing the existing software structure. It was also designed to integrate naturally with the customer’s existing 3D image processing workflow.

3. Results and Value
Improved Digital Microscope Analysis Environment
With the glasses-free 3D display, users can observe microstructures more accurately in three dimensions.
Improved User Comfort During Long Work Sessions
Monitor-based 3D observation reduces fatigue compared to eyepiece observation.
Faster Product Development and Commercialization
MOPIC’s fast prototype development and technical support helped accelerate product development and market launch.
Customer Interview
In digital microscope systems, accurately observing microstructures in three dimensions is very important. With MOPIC’s glasses-free 3D display, we were able to implement a new observation method that allows users to perform precise analysis in a more comfortable environment.
